The client brief was challenging to deliver substantial additional floor area to an existing residence without significantly decreasing the rear open space.
The design allowed for a new larger opening in the existing dining room, which now floods the new feature hallway with northern light. The solution was to propose a two-storey program located at the rear of the existing house, exploit the width of the site and convert the old garage into a gazebo.
